Los Angeles is really the perfect place to celebrate the Sukkot holiday. This time of year the weather is spectacular, very warm, no humidity, super clear days give way to balmy, with a little crisp evenings. It is perfect for dining outside under the stars. I want to give you a quick recap of last Sunday’s Sukkot menu. Actually I held two parties. One Thursday night September 19th. I served Prime Rib, Chicken Breasts, Oven Roasted vegetables, a big green salad and desserts.
The other party on this last Sunday the 22nd I endeavored to create something special. I wanted to serve a small bites buffet with all of my favorites. It proved to be a lot of effort, but with fantastic results. Since it was not a holiday night I was free to barbecue, fry, and cook up a storm.
Some of the things served:
Wagyu Beef Sliders with Mini Buns, fried mushrooms and onions on the side
Smoked Baby Lamb Ribs with Cascabel Chili Fig Barbecue Sauce
Smoked Whole Chickens, cut into small pieces
Bastilla, Chicken Phyllo Pie
Lahmajun (Turkish Lamb Pizza)
Pastelicos de Carne
Borekas with Pumpkin
El Salvadorian Pastelitos
Kufte de Prassa, Leek and Mashed Potato Patties
Moroccan Carrot Salad
Pico of Tomatoes and Jalapeños
Garnet Yam Cake
Noni Roll Cookies
