Happy New Year 2013

By Linda Capeloto Sendowski 2 Comments

I took this photograph a few nights ago. Perhaps indicative of what 2013 will be like as a year, the weather has been wild lately. Fog, rain, wind, heat and cold in a bombastic mix a little out of sync with normal weather patterns has been occurring. I took this photo the other night, long after dark, with the moonlight lighting up the fog and streams of light shooting off the pyramid atop the Hyatt hotel roof that I can see from my bedroom balcony. It looked like some kind of aliens coming and going from the roof top!dulce de torronha 001

dulce de torronha 015I want to wish all my readers a very Happy and prosperous and healthy New Year for 2013. As 2012 comes to a close in just a few hours I spent some time this afternoon on the 31st of December reflecting on what a crazy year and how quickly it flew by. I started the year with high hopes, some came to pass and some were dashed on the rocks of reality that tend to intrude from time to time in our lives.

I cooked, I learned, I tried new things, traveled, said goodbye to Noni (my mom) and took on more and more responsibilities. My relationships with people moved forward, becoming better friends with some and loosing track of others. I passed a mile stone birthday with all those scary thoughts about getting older, but instead of dwelling on the number I prefer to dwell on the authority I feel and the gravitas that I make my decisions, stick with them and don’t have to do anything I don’t care to.
Cooking presented new challenges, how to keep the blog fresh, at what pace should this non-income producing venture continue? How much and how hard do I want to work to get my books published?
With all these questions in mind I thought I would wish you all a very very Happy New Year. I hope to keep on mixing Sephardic favorites with other recipes on my blog post and I hope to improve my photography .dulce de torronha 037

Hi Linda – Yes, it certainly has been a wild and unstable/shaky year, from start to finish. A veritable roller coaster of events and feelings – both the big highs and the despairing lows. Here’s to the start of a better, brighter, happier year, with a wish for you and all your readers and subscribers a year filled with more joy than sadness, more smiles than tears, inner contentment and serenity, prosperity, success and creativity. Oh! And there’s also the joy that your new cookbook will bring!

Most of all, I wish us all a year of more love and more peace in our lives and in our world.
